Taking card payments in Ripon
Ripon maintains an active commercial life rooted in its ancient heritage and regional position in North Yorkshire. As England’s third-smallest city, retail revolves closely around the historic market square, which stages an energetic Thursday market of 120 stalls alongside annual gatherings like the Wilfrid Procession. Beyond weekly market trade, independent retailers, food venues, and hospitality providers welcome steady streams of visitors attending Ripon Racecourse, Ripon Cathedral, and the nearby Studley Royal Park and Fountains Abbey. Fast, dependable transaction processing is essential for handling spikes in trade during race days and market mornings.
Business Genie Payments, an independent authorised Teya partner run by Carl Daniel, helps local enterprises access modern payment equipment over the phone without administrative hassle. Teya settles card takings the next working day as standard, and qualifying businesses can choose everyday or Instant Settlement options, with conditions and in some cases an extra charge.
Thursday market stalls on the market square

Hospitality venues serving racegoers and tourists
Pubs, restaurants, and tea rooms welcoming racegoers from Ripon Racecourse or visitors returning from Fountains Abbey deal with rapid table turns. The Teya Pro card machine streamlines service with built-in bill splitting and gratuity prompts right on screen, saving floor staff time while accepting Apple Pay, Google Pay, and standard cards.
Mobile traders and seasonal festival vendors
Small operators trading during the annual Wilfrid Procession or operating occasional pop-up pitches often prefer minimal hardware. Teya Tap to Pay on phone lets vendors take contactless card and mobile wallet payments directly on a compatible smartphone. It functions as an agile primary device or a useful queue-busting backup.
